A PAINTING estimated to fetch up to £18,000 at a North Somerset auction recently sold for a whopping £30,400.
Created by Beryl Cook who is well-known for paintings of larger than life figures, the oil painting depicts Sir James Galway receiving rapturous applause during a concert in Plymouth.
Entitled Applause, it was consigned to Clevedon Salerooms following the business’ past success selling Beryl Cook originals and was bought by a private collector during a specialist sale last month.
