A PLUCKY five-year-old has been given the honour of turning on Nailsea’s festive lights this year.

Bella Mildon, with the help of her parents Sam and David, will be flicking the switch to mark the countdown to Christmas on November 15.

Bella and her family were nominated by Great Western Air Ambulance – Crown Glass Shopping Centre’s chosen charity.

Earlier this year, the air ambulance was called to Bella’s aid after she fell from a bouncy castle and broke her arm.

Bella, who has special needs, required a series of major operations and had her whole arm in cast for the entire summer holiday.

Bella’s mum Sam Mildon said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity for Bella, and us, to switch on the lights.”

Bella will be turning on the tree lights in Somerset Square at 6.30pm.

The Salvation Army Band will also be playing seasonal favourites and local craft stalls will fill Colliers Walk so shoppers can pick up a wide range of Christmas gifts.
