A Clevedon spa has beaten competition from across the South West to win the regional final of the National Apprenticeship Awards.
Beauty Oasis in Hill Road came out on top out of 1,200 entrants in the small employer of the year category and will now progress to national judging in the hope that it will become a national finalist.
Sarah Hallaran, Beauty Oasis owner, said: “We are thrilled and excited to have won this award which is truly down to the dedication of the training and management team and their professionalism which is an inspiration to all our apprentices.”
Beauty Oasis takes on about five apprentices a year at its three salons and carries out its own in-house training to ensure high standards.
Sue Husband, director of the National Apprenticeship Service, said: “Apprenticeships deliver for businesses, individuals and the economy.
“They enable people to gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed, in some cases up to degree level, while working and earning.
“And for businesses, hiring some apprentices is a productive and effective way for them to grow their own talent by developing a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce.”
The salon collected the accolade at a ceremony in Taunton and has also picked up awards for apprentice ambassador of the year and partner of the year.
Beauty Oasis’ Clevedon branch opened in May this year. It also boasts two other salons in Weston and Winscombe.
