A link between two A-roads will be closed at various points for resurfacing work for almost a month.

The B3130 in Barrow Gurney provides a route for drivers travelling between the A38 and A370, but needs tarmac improvements.

The road from Hillside Cottages to Barrow Court Lane will be completely closed between October 28 and November 1.

A night-time closure from 7pm-7am will be used to undertake the works between Cambridge Batch and Barrow Court Lane including the slip roads on/off the A370.

Those works will take place on weekdays from November 4-22.

Motorists will be told to use the South Bristol Link Road as a diversion.

James Tonkin, North Somerset Council's executive member for transport, said: "We are continuing to invest in our roads and this scheme is part of our ongoing maintenance programme.

"Our engineers have worked closely with the parishes to get this scheme completed with as little disruption as possible.

"Traffic data gives us the best times to put the closure in place, and we aim to get any noisy work done as early in the evening as possible."

Resurfacing work, drain clearing and vegetation clearing are among the changes set to be made while the road is closed.

Skanska will carry out the project at a cost of almost £500,000.
