Bargain prices at Bargain Brands
PUBLISHED: 11:00 15 March 2015
A new shop selling products from well-known brands at low prices has opened up in Clevedon.
Bargain Brands, located in Old Street, receives deliveries of goods every other day that are close to or have just gone past their best before date from supermarkets and then sells them at a cut price.
Kelly Bate, co-owner of the store, said: “All of this stuff is fine to eat or use and it would just go to landfill otherwise.
“The amount of waste coming from the major supermarkets is absolutely shocking.”
The shop, which is especially popular with children on their way home from school, sells goods including multi-packs of crisps and bottles of soft drinks for 50p.
Kelly added: “We never know what is going to be delivered so we get all sorts of stuff. We don’t receive things like dairy products for obvious reasons but everything we get we have to sort through which takes a lot of time.”
