A CLEAN-UP of a Portishead beach saw more than 30kg of rubbish removed from among the rocks and pebbles.
The operation at Black Nore beach, organised by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), was part of a national programme and litter survey.
Portishead resident and MCS South West Sea Champions volunteer co-ordinator, Patrick Joel, said: “In addition to the 89 drink containers, 148 bottle tops and 52 fast food boxes, the team also found a rubber duck, a whole fishing net and a vacuum cleaner.”
The beach clean and survey was the first Ecover Blue Mile event to take place this year. It was supported by local sponsors including The Ship, The Windmill, Reel Fun, Summit Outdoor Leisure and Carey’s DIY.
