Badger baiting in Nailsea
AN incidence of badger baiting has been reported in North Drove in Nailsea.
The witness reported the matter to Nailsea town councillors who confirmed they would refer the matter to the police.
PC Dave Edgell, wildlife liaison officer for Avon and Somerset Constabulary, said: “If anyone spots suspicious activities, such as people digging around badger setts or people out with terriers, they need to contact the police.
“If you are unsure, contact the landowner to see if the person has permission to be on the land.”
Badger digging and badger baiting, where dogs are pitted against a badger, is banned in England.
Anyone who spots anything suspicious can call PC Dave Edgell on 0845 456 7000.
