Members of a generous art group in Backwell have donated hundreds of pounds to charities.

St Andrew's Art Group dished out £635 to Backwell Parish Hall, Nailsea and District Community Transport and the Federation of West Leigh Infant and Backwell Junior School.

A donation of £100 was also sent to WAGs Retired Police Dog Trust that helps to pay veterinary bills.

The group has donated £2,005 to local causes and the majority of the money was raised during its successful art exhibition in July.

Spokesman Jill Hobday said: "As a small group, we are very proud of the considerable sums that we raise each year for local causes.

"However we could not do this without wonderful support from our members, friends, artists, Alan Webb, Dawn Cox and Michael Long who donated paintings and we thank everyone especially our loyal supporters who visit every year and give so generously."
