Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue has upgraded two of its vehicles, which will mean it is better equipped to save lives and find missing people.

Bristol-based law firm TLT made Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue its charity of the year in 2016/17, and donated £8,547 to it.

The money was raised in part by a sponsored three peaks challenge which staff from the firm did alongside some of the search and rescue team.

Now the cash has been used to repair two rescue ambulances and install the latest computer systems inside them.

The technology makes it easier for the team to locate missing people.

Chairman of the search and rescue team Chris Thring said: “These vehicles are essential to our search and rescue operations.

“We cover 1,800 square miles across the county, so we have to be as mobile as possible to support the police and community.”
