FIREFIGHTERS are needed in villages and towns across North Somerset.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service is inviting members of the public to find out more about being a firefighter as part of a drive to increase the number of part-time crews at some of its stations.
As part of the service’s commitment to maintaining front-line roles, Clevedon, Nailsea and Yatton stations are looking for people who want to give something back to the community by applying to be a part-time, or retained duty system (RDS) firefighter.
RDS firefighters are needed to provide a flexible on-call service attending the fire station from their home or work place if they are needed for an emergency.
A series of open evenings, where members of the public can find out more about life as a retained firefighter, speak to staff and watch a demonstration, will take place at Clevedon Fire Station in Old Street from 7-9pm on Monday and February 14, and from 7-9pm on Wednesday and February 16 at Nailsea Fire Station in Pound Lane and Yatton Fire Station in Rock Road.
