Amateur drama groups in North Somerset are in line to win at a prestigious awards ceremony on Saturday.

The National Operatic and Dramatic Association South West Awards will be held in Bristol with groups based across the district hoping to have a successful evening.

Portishead Players’ Dark Lucy production is up against seven other amateur theatre companies from the South West in the Best Drama Production category.

The group is also in with a chance of walking away with an award for its Pantomania performance.

Entertaining Angels, a dark comedy staged by Clevedon Players last spring, has been nominated for The Show Must Go On Award while Clevedon Light Opera Club’s superb version of Hairspray is set to win a coveted District Achievement.

Failand Drama Circle faces competition from three others in the Best Innovative Production category for its Little Shop Of Horrors show.
