Portishead businesses supported a charity by serving up a selection of sweet treats.

High Street shoe store SoleLution and cake craft shop The Big Kitchen, in Old Mill Road, teamed up to host a cake sale on June 13, raising money for the Alzheimer's Society.

The charity supports those affected by degenerative brain diseases like dementia.

Both town businesses raised valuable cash and awareness for the cause.

SoleLution owner Tanya Marriott said: "In the average time it takes
to bake a batch of cakes, six people in the UK will develop dementia and cupcake day raises money to help to fund pioneering research, crucial support services and vital care for those affected by Alzheimer's."

Magda Dembicka, of The Big Kitchen, was grateful for the public's support with the charitable endeavour.

She added: "We wanted to help raise awareness of Alzheimer's as well as help raise funds and we would like to thank everyone who bought a cup cake at the cake sale."
