The police teams covering North Somerset’s towns and villages have undergone some changes after alterations were made to the areas covered by local councillors.

Following next month’s election, the boundaries covered by North Somerset councillors will change after the Local Government Boundary Commission for England recommended reducing the number of representatives voted on to the authority.

To fit in with these changes and enable the police to easily work alongside councillors and other partner agencies, beat team boundaries have also been altered.

As a result, North Somerset has been divided into five clusters including one called Nailsea and villages and another cluster called Portishead and Clevedon.

Officers based at Nailsea’s police station who are led by Sergeant Mark Raby now cover four areas which are the Nailsea beat; the Redwood beat including Long Ashton, Abbots Leigh, Pill and Barrow Gurney; the Backwell and Wrington beat and the Yeo Vale beat which includes Congesbury, Langford and Churchill.

The Portishead and Clevedon teams, led by Sergeant Gavin O’Reilly, cover the Clevedon beat; the Portishead beat including Easton-in-Gordano and Portbury and the Yatton and villages beat which also includes Kenn and Kingston Seymour.

The Nailsea and villages team is made up of PC Peter Rooke and PCSOs Julie Berchall and Andrew Gatenby covering Nailsea; PC Paul Morris and PCSO Cathryn Turner covering Backwell and Wrington; PC Jason Foster and PCSOs Penelope Gatenby and Marie Broomfield covering Yeo Vale and PCs Martin Faithfull and Greig Difford plus PCSOs Simon Tuong, Charlotte Thompson and Eleanor Hicks covering Redwood.

The Portishead and Clevedon team features PCs Simon Tamilia, Chris Denny, Suzanne Davey and Jenny Clark plus PCSOs Kylie Inker, Deborah Charman, Chea Scandrett, Dawn Tremlett, Julie Lewis and Gary Lewis covering Portishead; PCs David Hughes and Ross Kirby plus PCSOs Caroine Harris and Philip Jewel covering Clevedon and PC Adam Clark and PCSO Jasmine Chadwick covering Yatton and villages.
