The M5 has reopened after a lorry crash saw the motorway closed for several hours.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary closed the motorway in North Somerset at about 9.30am, but it reopened just over three hours later.

The lorry jack-knifed on the northbound carriageway between junctions 19 (Clevedon) and 20 (Portishead/Gordano).

It meant motorists were held near the accident spot for two hours before they could continue on their journeys.

The M5 was closed at junction 21 (Weston-super-Mare) and traffic diverted along the A370.

However, Highways England has now lifted that closure.

Despite that, there are long delays still on the motorway with queues stretching more than 10 miles to junction 23 (Bridgwater).
