PUPILS at Trinity Primary School in Portishead chose sites in the school garden for bird boxes they had made.

Member of Portishead Lions Club showed them how to use a hammer, nails, wood glue and roofing felt to build their own nesting boxes.

The school has linked up with Avon Wildlife Trust community officer Neil Hutton, from Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve, to help make the school more wildlife friendly.

In 2010 the pupils won 1,000 to develop gardens and conservation areas within the school grounds after entering the Bristol Habitat Hunt competition.
