St Peter’s Hospice Reindeer Run returns across South West

The St Peter’s Hospice Reindeer Run will once again see children in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset dash, dance, and prance to raise money for a good cause.

First launched in 2025, the event raised more than £5,800 in its debut year and is now back for a second round.

Meg Austin, community fundraising officer at St Peter’s Hospice, said: "We're delighted that the Reindeer Run was such a success last year and we can bring it back again this Christmas.

"I think the reason it was so popular with schools and groups is that it was created with flexibility in mind.

"Classes can pick the date they want to complete their challenge, raise as much as they can and choose the distance they cover."

Aimed at schools, children's community groups, scouting groups, and after-school clubs, the event invites children to create their own antlers and complete a sponsored run, jog, or walk with friends in November or December.

Ms Austin said: "This is a really easy and fun fundraiser to get involved with.

"We provide all the resources organisers need, meaning there's no stress and more time to don those antlers and enjoy the festive activity.

"We're really hoping this event grows year on year and becomes a favourite on the calendar for many children.

"It's a magical way for children to celebrate with their friends, while also raising money that will make a real difference to families across our community.

"We can't wait to see the herds of reindeer taking to playgrounds, parks and fields this winter."

Children can collect small donations from family and friends, with just £1 or £2 each making a difference.

Organisers receive a free downloadable fundraising pack that includes guidance for teachers, printable antler templates, a fundraising tracker for the children, and festive resources.

Children are also invited to design their own reindeer, with the chance to have their artwork featured in next year’s postcards and designs.

St Peter’s Hospice relies on donations, gifts in wills, fundraising, and income from its retail shops to provide its services free of charge.

It costs around £30,000 to run the hospice for a single day.

Funds raised through the Reindeer Run will support adults with life-limiting illnesses in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset who are cared for by St Peter’s Hospice.
