A SOMERSET man is set to run 310 kilometres in 31 days to raise awareness of mental health and support a charity close to his heart.
Marshal Hale will run 10 kilometres every day throughout August, covering a total distance of 310km, equivalent to more than seven-and-a-half marathons.
He is completing the physical challenge as part of a fundraiser for Mind. At the time of this report, he has raised more than £1400.
Mr Hale said the challenge was inspired by his own experiences with mental health struggles, as well as the recent loss of a friend of one of his younger siblings.

He said: "Mental health is something I've struggled with and it's likely most people reading this have also had their own personal battles.
"Raising money for this charity is close to home and something I've wanted to do for a while."
Explaining what motivated him to take on the challenge now, he added: "Recently one of my younger siblings lost a friend and these heartbreaking circumstances gave me the push to do something impactful.
"If this challenge can help even one person reach out for support or start one important conversation, every kilometre will be worth it."
Throughout the month, Mr Hale will document his progress on Strava, TikTok and social media, sharing both the highs and lows of the challenge.
He hopes the campaign will encourage more people to speak openly about mental health and seek support when they need it.
The challenge will conclude on August 31 with a final 10km run finishing at The Langford Inn.
A fundraising event will then take place at the venue, featuring a barbecue, live music, a raffle, games and other activities designed to bring the community together while raising money for charity.
Mr Hale said every donation, regardless of size, would help support the charity's work, while sharing the fundraising page or following the journey online would also make a difference.
He added: "Together, we can raise awareness, start conversations, and make a difference."
