A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu seminar in North Somerset has raised funds for a veterans' charity.

Samurai Fitness Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Yatton hosted its annual Summer Charity Seminar this month in support of The Not Forgotten, a charity that has supported veterans and service personnel affected by injury and illness for more than a century.

Chris Last, head coach at Samurai Fitness, said: "It's crucial veterans receive the support they deserve.

"We remember the fallen; let's not forget the living."

The academy, founded by former Royal Marine Commandos, described the charity as "close to their hearts."

The fundraiser was open to all, from beginners to experienced athletes, and attracted guest coaches including Royal Marines BJJ and URSO Jiu Jitsu head coach Tarik Bilgiç, professional athlete Carson Coles of Roger Gracie Academy Bristol, and fourth-degree black belt Ian Rossiter from Rising Tide Jiu Jitsu.

Attendees had access to the academy’s recovery and wellness facilities, and principal chiropractor Matt Sutton volunteered his time to provide post-training treatment.

The event was described as a "great success," with 100 per cent of the funds raised donated to The Not Forgotten.
