A Somerset crematorium has reopened after a gas leak forced the cancellation and relocation of funeral services.
Weston-super-Mare Crematorium and Cemetery, on Ebdon Road in Worle, reopened its grounds at midday today (July 22) after the leak was repaired.
Funeral services are due to resume tomorrow, Thursday, July 23.
The major update comes after the crematorium was forced to close for two days because of what it described as an "unexpected" gas leak.
The closure led to planned funerals being cancelled, with some services moved to alternative sites.
In an update issued today, the crematorium said: "We're pleased to confirm that the crematorium grounds will re-open today at midday and services will continue from tomorrow (Thursday 23rd July). The gas leak has been fixed and the site is now safe to enter again.
"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience and understanding."
Yesterday, the crematorium said it was working to resolve the issue and reopen the site as quickly as possible.
A statement said: "We are working closely with the relevant teams to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and will keep you updated as soon as we have further information.
"We sincerely apologise for any upset and inconvenience this unforeseen situation may cause and we will keep you updated.
"Thank you for your patience, understanding and support while we work to safely reopen the site."
The crematorium, which opened in 1966, has now confirmed the repair work has been completed and the site is safe to reopen.
