Firstly, I want to thank all of those who voted for me back in July; I am honoured and humbled that you have put your faith in me.

I will dedicate my time in office to building trust and respect, and to serving all constituents.

October 17 marked the first 100 days of the new Labour government, and what a whirlwind it has been, setting up the constituency office, visiting community groups and businesses, and corresponding with so many of you already.

At one point I had a backlog of over 4,500 emails.

I thank you for your patience during these early months, as some of you waited longer than I would have liked for a response whilst I prioritised the most urgent of cases.

So far, I have helped 1,430 individuals and am currently supporting constituents on a further 580 cases.

Monday to Thursday I will usually be based in Westminster, ensuring that North Somerset is represented in Parliament, whilst spending Fridays and weekends within the constituency, visiting local businesses and causes.

I have so far undertaken 44 engagements with community groups, representatives, and businesses, as well as holding my first constituency surgeries.

It has been wonderful getting out and about to meet so many passionate and dedicated community groups, organisations and individuals, all working together to make North Somerset a great place to live.

My goal as an MP is to ensure North Somerset improves a little bit every year, easing some of the problems that we face every day.

I have enjoyed visits to the Barrow Gurney Flower Show, the 75th anniversary celebrations of Clevedon Community Centre and Bristol Port Company, to find out about their exciting plans for the future involving green projects and sustainable aviation fuel, to name but a few.

In parliament, I was proud to deliver the petition for the Portishead station with over 5000 signatures to parliament and met with supporters at a rally at Bristol Temple Meads.

I believe this is a vital infrastructure project which will deliver for the people of North Somerset in terms of employment, sustainable travel, and economic growth.

Larry the cat (Image: Sadik Al-Hassan) Of course, one of my political highlights was meeting the chief mouser at No. 10, Larry the Cat.

Thank you to those who have taken the time to write to me with your views, which ensure I am equipped to accurately represent you.

Whilst opinions vary on many topics, there are some key themes and priorities emerging, such as the universal objection to the proposed EDF saltmarsh creation, the strong support for the creation of a train station at Portishead, and the need for appropriate, affordable housing.

These are just some of the issues that I will champion throughout the coming months and years.

(Image: Sadik Al-Hassan) Please email me if you need support or request a meeting at one of my regular Friday surgeries which are held across the constituency.

Alternatively, I can accommodate online consultations during evenings and weekends.

I will be arranging some group events to hear your opinions and experiences on specific subjects such as Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision and the assisted dying proposals, so please do let me know if you would be interested in participating in these.
