Children from The Nursery in Portishead visited their local beach as part of the Great British Beach Clean Week.
The group of three and four-year-olds headed to the seafront, armed with litter pickers, to remove plastic waste and litter from the beach.
They also visited the two-minute beach clean boards outside the Lido Café.
Gaye Holman, who leads The Nursery’s community engagement initiatives, said: "It's important for our children to learn that by simply giving up just two minutes of our time, together we can make a difference.
"If we can help the children to identify litter on our local beaches, learn about the importance of recycling and how this in turn reduces waste, hopefully we can ignite a passion for helping to keep our coastline and waterways clean now and for future generations."
The children also participated in a plastics clean-up at the town’s marina earlier this year to mark Earth Day.
Ms Holman added: "It’s important to us at The Nursery that our children understand the need for us all to take care of the environment."
The Great British Beach Clean is a week-long citizen science event organised by the Marine Conservation Society.
