THE council said they are “aware” of a complaint made by a Nailsea resident who said a tree “split the wall’s foundation” near his bungalow.
Stephen Brooks, who lives in a bungalow in Nailsea, said he thinks “the tree will go” in the next storm and “if there’s someone on the other end, it could kill them”.
Mr Brooks said the tree is on Queen’s Road, on council land, and therefore he is “not allowed to touch it”.
North Somerset Council said they are “aware of this complaint” and the tree is on their "list of works for removal".
He said: “It’s been going on since 2021. The wall is a tall, cement block. There’s always been a tree there but never caused a massive issue.
“Now the tree it’s probably 25 feet tall, I think. It’s so big it splits the wall in two, it split the wall’s foundation.
“I think the tree will go this winter if there’s a storm. The big trunk flexes in a storm and if there’s someone on the other end, it could kill them.
“The tree is on the council’s side of the wall. The tree is on Queen’s Road, so I am not allowed to touch it.
“If it comes down, it could come down on my side. It could smash my shed.
“It’s a substantially built wall but the tree caused a massive crack in it.”
A North Somerset Council spokesperson said: “We’re aware of this complaint, and we have reassured the resident that this tree is on our list of works for removal.
“The tree should be removed by the end of September.”
