Residents and caregivers concerned about, living with, or supporting someone with dementia or frailty are invited to a helpful workshop.
The Dementia and Falls Prevention Workshop will take place on Thursday, September 19, from 3pm to 5pm at the Folk Hall in Portishead.
It will focus on practical strategies to improve the quality of life for individuals affected by these conditions, particularly in preventing falls.
The workshop will cover a range of topics, including understanding how dementia and frailty affect mobility, cognition, and independence.
Evidence-based interventions to reduce fall risk and promote safety at home will also be discussed.
Attendees will learn practical communication techniques, behaviour management strategies, and person-centred care approaches for supporting individuals with dementia.
The workshop will also highlight the benefits of physiotherapy and exercise programmes in improving strength, balance, and overall quality of life.
Additionally, the session will introduce medical technology, including assistive devices, monitoring systems, and telehealth solutions designed to enhance care and support.
The workshop is suitable for caregivers, healthcare professionals, and family members seeking practical advice on managing the challenges of dementia and frailty while promoting well-being and independence.
