A magical moonlight walk along Clevedon's seafront is taking place to raise money for a local children's hospice.

The Moonlight Memory Walk, organised by the Children's Hospice South West (CHSW), will be held on October 5.

It commences at Salthouse Fields and traces a scenic route to the Victorian Pier and back.

The event encourages people to partake in an evening all in the cause of supporting the vital services of CHSW.

This is the charity's second outing of this fundraising endeavour, and they are eager to increase participant numbers and donations.

The inaugural Memory Walk last year saw the participation of over 80 walkers, managing to raise an impressive £8,500.

With the prospect of a short and precious life contemplated, each walker participates in memory of a loved one.

Once signed up, each participant will receive a Moonlight Memory Walk t-shirt and end their effort rewarded with a finisher's medal.

CHSW events fundraiser Hollie Thorogood said: "Walkers are encouraged to raise sponsorship in memory of their loved ones, helping to raise funds to ensure children and young people from across Bristol and Somerset can access the care and support offered by Charlton Farm children’s hospice."

Welcoming participants aged 12 and up, the registration opens at 6.45pm, with a fitness warm-up and safety briefing to be conducted before the walk begins at 8pm.

It is anticipated that the lively secluded gathering will wrap up around 10pm.

Walkers are politely asked to aim to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship funds, in homage to their loved ones.

Additional benefits of signing up for the event include receiving a memory pack in the post, and the capacity to leave a heartfelt dedication to their loved one online.

Prospective walkers looking to make the most of the early bird offer, which gives a 30 per cent discount until July 1, can secure their place at this event for £10.50.
