A STAINED glass artist with a studio overlooking Clevedon’s historic Grade 1 listed pier is encouraging locals to get creative.

Aveen, a secondary school teacher who preferred we just used her first name, is the proud owner of Glass & Arrow. She has been working within education for over a decade.

Over time, Aveen has built up her knowledge and skill in stained glass artwork.

The artist's website explains further: “Aveen has been teaching in the UK for over a decade and originally graduated from West Wales School of Arts with a BA in Ceramic Design.

“Her interest in arts and crafts continued after university, and she often found herself experimenting in various mediums, ranging from upholstery and woodwork to screen printing and silversmithing, always moving onto the next.

“In 2020, Aveen was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to develop her knowledge and skills in stained glass from her home studio in Bristol during lockdown and was hooked.

“Glass & Arrow was established the following year and her work is now being sold online and at Flourish, Bristol UK.”

Aveen regularly hosts stained glass workshops out of her sea view Clevedon studio and specialises in the copper foiling technique, which is most commonly known as the Tiffany method of stained glass.

Speaking to the North Somerset Times, Aveen said: “The workshops that I teach are designed for absolute beginners. No prior creative experience is needed.

“I even had a lady who was 78 years old, it was on her bucket list to try out the craft.

“It’s a unique setting.”

Speaking about future plans, Aveen added: “I’m planning on hosting at more venues this year, Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff and Prior Shop, an independent shop, in Cabot Circus Bristol are both currently in the pipeline.”
