PLANS have been submitted to expand a residential dementia care home in Weston.

The application for Butterfly House, on 47 Lower Bristol Road, was validated on Tuesday, February 27.

The application seeks approval for roof extension to the rear roof section to increase room provision and increase the quality of rooms being offered. Works will include the expansion of out buildings.

The application's design and access statement by Gibson Architecture reads: "The care home is currently registered for 36 beds, however due to a reduction over time to create high quality rooms with en-suites the business currently has a provision of 32 bedrooms, 26 of which are en suite.

"The 6 rooms without en-suite provision are small and fall short of the business owners standards. As part of the proposed works and extant planning, the rooms will be reconfigured / extended to create larger rooms, all with en suite.

"The home is looking to expand for several reasons. The necessity for expanding the care homes operations is clearly set out and explained within the submitted Statement of Purpose.

"In order to extend the roof space to accommodate the homes expansion, care and consideration to protecting the character of the building and the conservation area has been key."

Here are some of the other plans submitted this week, from Monday, February 26
