LAST year, a bus which connects Weston with Bristol Airport saw a rapid increase in passenger numbers.

The A3 Weston Flyer, which runs from the seaside town through Worle, Congresbury and Cleeve, was used by nearly 120,000 people in 2023.

The A3 Airport Flyer service restarted in April 2022 following the pandemic. During that year, only 21,000 journeys were undertaken.

The hourly bus, which runs every day apart from Christmas Day, operates from 3am to 11pm.

Bristol Airport workers made up half of the number of bus journeys made last year. Staff were able to travel for free by showing their employee ID to the driver.

The A3 Weston Flyer is linked to both Weston railway station and to the rail network in Worle.

Ed Condon, transport development manager, said: "We’re committed to grow the number of people accessing the Airport by public transport, whether passengers or staff.

"Weston and Worle are hugely important areas for recruitment of new colleagues at the Airport – the free travel scheme allows those joining us, and our existing staff, the chance to travel to work for free.”
