A total of 130 people turned up for the first three-course meal on offer from Clevedon School's Winter Warmer events.
The event is part of a wider effort to assist those facing financial difficulties.
People of all ages are invited for a free meal taking place between 5pm and 6.30pm every Wednesday for a month.
Top chefs from Chartwells, the school's caterers, will prepare the meals, accompanied by music, games, and entertainment.
Headteacher Jim Smith acknowledged the great turnout, stating, "This was a terrific number of people to kick off these Winter Warmers.
"We welcome all people to enjoy this complimentary three-course meal with all sorts of entertainment on offer."
Future attendees are advised to book places by emailing the school at office@clevedonschool.org.uk.
