PRIOR approval is being sought to convert part of a Clevedon store into a dwelling.

The application for 20 Hill Road, which was validated on Friday, January 19, reads: "The application is submitted for the change of use of the vacant ancillary retail accommodation (Class E) to provide 1 no. self-contained flat at lower ground floor level.

"The retail accommodation is historic and has recently been used for storage and staff accommodation for Vision Express. There are existing residential flats on the upper floors of the building.

"The site is in the town centre of Clevedon and is in a highly sustainable location, with access to a range of services and facilities. Change of Use of retail floor area to residential accommodation.

"A single on-site parking space is proposed. Given the highly sustainable location, this would not result in unacceptable transport impacts. There are bus stops within a few metres of the site."
