PORTISHEAD Rotary Club has launched the 2024 Swimathon in memory of a much-loved fellow Rotarian.

The event, which will take place at Parish Wharf on Saturday, March 23, has been organised in memory of Mollie Young, who played an instrumental role in making previous Swimathons a reality for over 25 years.

Portishead & Clevedon Triathlon Club (PACTri) are giving their time to support the Mollie Young Memorial Swimathon.

The event will see teams of six swimming as a relay for 35 minutes. The number of lengths will be recorded by lane counters.  Sessions run from 11am until 7pm.

Please note that this is not a race, and that people of any age or ability are welcome to attend. Provision will be made for weaker swimmers.

Each swimmer will be given a gift aid form to collect donations to support not only their own school/group but also the Presidents charities, which are Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home Charity and Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND).

Last year's Swimathon raised an impressive £14,500.

The rotary club also wish to thank Chris Skidmore and his staff at Parish Wharf Leisure Centre.
