A NORTH Somerset motorist has pleaded guilty in court to speeding at 40mph in a 30mph zone.
Joseph Michael Milkins, 38, of Crockerne Drive, committed the offence near Portway Road on the A4 in Portway on March 22 last year.
He was handed three penalty points on his driving licence when he appeared at North Somerset Magistrates' Court.
Despite being over the totting up points total for a ban, magistrates decided not to disqualify him due to the impact it would have on his family and students in his care.
Milkins was fined £153 and ordered to pay a £61 victim surcharge, along with a contribution of £90 towards prosecution costs.
His total court bill of £304 must be paid off at a rate of £20 a month commencing on Monday, January 29.
