FOUR North Somerset railway stations have been revealed to be some of the busiest in Britain, new statistics show.

Weston, Yatton, Nailsea and Backwell, and Worle stations have been ranked in the top 1,000 busiest railway stations in the UK.

New data released by the ONS/Office of Rail and Road shows that, between April 2022 and March 2023, 939,804 passengers brought tickets to and from Weston-super-Mare Railway Station, placing it as 477th on the UK's ranking list.

Passenger levels for the Weston station rose from 306,684 from April 2020 to April 2021, to 777,910 from April 2021 to April 2022.

In North Somerset, Yatton seemed less popular than its Weston counterpart, with 452,506 passing through between April 2022 and March 2023, ranking 825th nationally.

414,450 individuals passed through the Nailsea and Backwell station in that same time frame, resulting in a UK rank of 853.

Worle received a passenger footfall of 319,340 with a ranking of 976, whilst Weston Milton received only 94,086, ranking 1,160th in Britain.

The Worle station has seen a significant increase from its 2021-2022 numbers, which came in at 232,340.
