One of the most bustling days could be December 22, when approximately 26,000 passengers will fly in and out of the airport.

The most-frequented flights during the Christmas build-up are those to Lapland, with numerous families opting for a festive holiday experience.

European and UK getaways to Dublin, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Geneva, and Tenerife are among the top destinations for travellers.

Those travelling with presents should keep them unwrapped.

Travellers intending to carry Christmas crackers should confirm regulations with airlines as many refuse to permit them on aircraft.
