A POPULAR North Somerset zoo farm is offering free admission to visitors aged over 70 this December.
Noah's Ark Zoo Farm, based in Wraxall, is giving free admission to those in that age bracket in an effort to help curb loneliness during what can be an extremely difficult time for many.
This is the fourth consecutive year the zoo farm is running the offer, which will be in place until December 31.
Visitors are encouraged to reach out to older relatives, friends and neighbours and bring them along to a day at the zoo, which is home to some of the world's most endangered animals.
The initiative was inspired by Age UK. The charity states that almost 1.5 million people feel lonelier at Christmas than at any other time of the year.
Larry Bush, managing director at the zoo, said: “At Noah’s Ark, we deeply value and embrace every member of our community and we are always looking for ways we can extend our welcome even further.
"Our hope is that this offer encourages those who might not typically visit us to share in the festive warmth, creating cherished moments with loved ones."
