THE leader of North Somerset Council has paid a visit to Portishead's Avon and Somerset Police communications centre to discuss antisocial behaviour, unauthorised encampments and recruitment.
During his visit on Thursday (November 23), Cllr Mike Bell also got the chance to learn more about the work of 101 and 999 call handlers, who play a crucial role in organising emergency response and potentially saving lives.
Cllr Bell met up with the police and crime commissioner, Mark Shelford, to talk about ways to handle issues such as antisocial behaviour. This can include drinking in public spaces and being aggressive with others.
Posting on Facebook on the day, Cllr Bell said: "Interesting visit to the Avon and Somerset Police communications centre in #Portishead today to learn about the work of 101 and 999 call handlers.
"Appreciated the opportunity to visit and catch up with the Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Shelford and discuss antisocial behaviour, unauthorised encampments and recruitment into policing."
