Flights have been delayed and the A38 near Bristol Aiport is still closed following a 'serious collision' this morning, (Saturday, October 28).

Avon and Somerset Police North Somerset were called to the A38 at one o'clock this morning to say they are currently dealing with a 'two-car collision on the A38.' The road is still closed.

Traffic website, AA Roadwatch is reporting that the road is closed for 'crash investigation work both ways between the airport roundabout and Skyline roundabout.'

A spokesman for Bristol Airport said: “Flights will not take off from Bristol Airport this morning until 08:00. We’ve made this decision because the A38 is closed between the two Airport roundabouts following a serious road traffic collision, causing delays to passengers, staff, and our own shuttle buses.

"Passengers flying this morning are advised to leave extra time to travel to the Airport and check their flight details with their airline. The latest information on departures will be available on our website.”

"29 flights were scheduled to depart Bristol Airport between 06:00 and 08:00 this morning. Flights do not depart Bristol Airport before 06:00.

Avon and Somerset Police said: "We are advising motorists to avoid the A38 near Bristol Airport this morning, (Saturday 28 October) following a two-vehicle collision."

"The road is currently closed between the two airport roundabouts. "We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time."
