WESTON Brass will be entertaining North Somerset residents this festive period.

In total, the group, which were formed in 1963, will make 14 appearances across the region.

This includes performances at the historic Tyntesfield House and on Weston's High Street.

On December 3, the band will hold a Christmas Joy concert alongside female choir the Somerset Songbirds.

Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased via the Weston Brass website.

Chairman of the band, Paul Field, said: “The band and the committee work very hard to ensure we remain true to our traditions, aims and objectives regarding community music education and the promotion of brass band music.

"We play so many concerts in so many different venues throughout the year from parks to concert halls. But with 14 engagements already booked, Christmas is the time where we play to our biggest audience.

"And connecting with the community in and around Weston-super-Mare, which we are very proud to represent, is doubly important.”

The band is also a charity, with each member paying a monthly subscription to cover the cost of music, instruments, uniforms and rehearsal facilities.

All of the funds collected over the Christmas period will go towards ensuring the financial future of the band.
