A LOCAL business is in the running to win the title of Wedding Venue of the Year in the 2023 Bristol Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards.

Barley Wood House can be found in Wrington. As stated on the company's website, the 18th-century country house is set within 11 acres of gardens and woods.

The venue is also celebrated for its picturesque views of the Mendip Hills.

A spokesperson from Barley Wood House said: “We are thrilled to have been recognised at this year’s Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism awards! Our team is dedicated to making sure that every couple has the most special experience possible and we feel privileged to be a part of each and every wedding and event held here.

“Barley Wood is a very unique venue for many reasons, but namely that we are part of YMCA Dulverton Group, a youth and community charity. Many couples love the fact that when they book with us, they are helping to support our work in local communities and we are proud to be part of an organisation that changes lives.

“Myself and the team wish every finalist good luck and we can’t wait for the awards ceremony next month.”

The awards were created to recognise businesses which go above and beyond.

Awards director, Nell Barrington, said: “We were thrilled with the increase and quality of entries this year which has made it really tough for our team of volunteer judges.  Good luck to the finalists and congratulations to them all.”

The award ceremony will take place on November 30 at The Bristol Hotel. Winning businesses in most categories will have the opportunity to advance to the South West Awards in March 2024 and could potentially represent Bristol Bath and Somerset at the National VisitEngland Awards next year.
