NAILSEA is to lose its last bank following Lloyds' announcement it is closing its branch in Crown Glass Place on February 1 next year.

A spokesman for the banking giant said: "The world is becoming more digital than ever before and more of our customers are doing their everyday banking online.

"With more customers banking digitally, we've seen a fall in branch visits.

"Because of this, we've decided to close this branch."

The company suggests customers can continue to use Lloyds "online, on your mobile, over the phone or at a Post Office".

It added that transactions in the branch had dropped by around 50 per cent over the past five years.

The spokesperson added: "You can use any of our branches and the nearest alternative is the Clevedon branch.

"And after the branch closes we’ll have a community banker visit this area.

"They can offer support and guidance on the ways you can bank with us."

HSBC, NatWest and Barclays have already closed in Nailsea.
