CHOIRS from North Somerset have joined together in a combined performance at St George's.

Members from the three choirs performed a concert on July 19.

One of the highlights from the concert was 70+ performers singing ‘When I Grow Up’ from Matilda.

"It provides wrap-around care for Backwell Junior School, but attracts children from all over North Somerset with a love of singing in a caring family atmosphere.

"We enjoy learning a variety of songs, including folk, rock, pop, classical, and musicals.  Our aim is to be fun whilst developing key musical skills.  The children perform in Sunday Services approx. three times a year, which is enjoyed by the Backwell community immensely.

"Our practices are on Wednesdays during term time from 4-5pm and subs are £4 per week with bursaries available.  For more info - please email admin@saintandrewsbackwell.org.uk

"The Backwell & Nailsea Ladies Choir has been singing for over 50 years!  Originally a WI choir, it was led by Jean Routley for most of this time, until her retirement in Autumn 2022.

"We are currently working towards on our Christmas Concert in December, on the Theme of ‘A Winter’s Night’.  We practice on Thursdays during term time at the WI hall in Backwell from 1:15-2:45pm.  For more information, please contact bandnladieschoir@gmail.com.

"Evergreen Chorus is a mixed-voice choir singing contemporary music from a variety of genres.  Songs we have sung recently include Bohemian Rhapsody, Seasons of Love from RENT, Toto’s Africa, Mika’s Grace Kelly, Defying Gravity from WICKED, along with gospel, classical pieces, and sea shanties!
