AVON Fire and Rescue Service will be opening up Blagdon Fire Station for an interactive recruitment day this month.

The event will take place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, September 23.

Members from the on-call fire crew will be on hand to answer any questions that you may have and discuss the benefits of joining the service.

There will be various demonstrations of road traffic collision procedures, as well as games and children's activities on offer. Attendees will also have the chance to have a go at firefighter drills and try on firefighter kits.

Refreshments will be available to purchase from Blagdon School Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) and Let’s Melt.

Blagdon firefighter Luke Groves said: "We’re really looking forward to opening our doors and inviting the local community to come and see some of the work that we do.”

Not only will the free event serve as an opportunity for local people to learn more about being an on-call firefighter, but it will also raise money for The Fire Fighters' Charity. Donations will be very welcome.
