RAVENSWOOD School students have celebrated some amazing GCSE results.

Students are picking up their much-anticipated grades from the all-age specialist school in Nailsea today (Thursday, August 24, 2023).

Katie Barnes, deputy headteacher, said: "We had a number of students sitting different exams from Entry level to A-levels.

"Despite the disruption of the last few years, Covid, water damage to the school, teacher strikes etc every individual has worked so hard to reach their potential and we are so proud of every single one of them for dreaming, achieving, and believing.

"Of particular mention, this year was the first year that we had GCSE Art students, the two girls worked incredibly hard towards their qualification and passed with good marks. Well done to Katie and Megan!

"Furthermore, a huge well done to Jake and Megan on their GCSE Maths and English results. They both worked incredibly hard and achieved some great grades.

"Also, Daniel for his Functional Skills Level 2 Maths and Emma, Ben and Katie for their Functional Skills Level 1 English, and everyone else who sat entry level exams this year.

"We also had one student sit A-level Politics and BTEC Level 3 Health and Social Care, who last week achieved some fantastic grades: a Distinction* in Health and Social Care and C in Politics.

"She was able to complete both within just a year to go alongside her A-level Law from last year. This was a result of much independence, hard work, and determination on her behalf, supported by school staff.

"This will enable her to apply to university to study law when she is ready. A huge well done to Issy for these incredible results."

The school has also reminded students that other achievements matter, too. Ms Barnes added: "We know that academic success is just one measure that supports their pathway to adulthood and are proud to be a part of their journey.

"We encourage everyone to be the best version of themselves through the support of the school. These achievements accompany a wide range of accomplishments in their personal, social, independence and employability skills that every pupil at the school has made over the last year or so.

"These results are a huge testament to the whole staff team and of course the hard work and dedication of the students at the school."
