A HEALTH club and spa in Congresbury is running a Spinathon event this month to raise money after a local school suffered major damage in a fire.
On Thursday, August 24, the team at the club and spa at Cadbury House will be running the fundraising event.
Four of their state-of-the-art spin bikes will be placed in its reception where club members plus the general public will be able to ride for 30-minute slots each, costing a minimum of £5.
The ride will start at 8am and finish around 7pm on the same day.
Earlier this year, Yatton Junior and Infant School lost a number of classrooms and playground equipment in a devastating fire.
Since then, pupils have had to use portacabins while the school tries to raise the funds to rebuild.
Posting on Facebook just after the fire in May, Yatton Schools said: “We understand that the community are keen to help with fundraising to rebuild the school and we are really grateful.
“That said, if the community does want to donate please can this be done directly to the Yatton Schools Association charity so we can benefit from Gift Aid and ensure all funds are directed where Jo (Keeble, headteacher) and the governors feel it is needed most.”
People from across North Somerset are urged to put their name down and give it a go.
Jason Eaton, general manager at the club said: “It was devastating to hear of the fire and damage to the school.
"We’ve got quite close connections with the school being only half a mile down the road and meant we all knew someone who has been impacted by the fire so we’re delighted to do something to help.
“Anyone can take part and we’d love to see parents, teachers, our own members plus members of the public pop their name down and have a have a go.
"They can go as fast or slow as they wish and can book as many 30-minute slots as they like!
“We’re also hoping that anyone who visits during the day will pop any spare change into collection buckets adding to the overall total.”
