A GROUP of 81 Clevedon School Year 8 students have achieved their Trinity College London bronze arts award.

It is a nationally recognised qualification in the arts that young people can use on their CVs and Personal statement in the future.

To achieve the qualification, young people had to complete four arts challenges - participating in art form development, reviewing at least on arts event, researching into a craftsperson who inspires them and leading a skills share workshop.

Students have been working on their arts award scrapbooks all year alongside practical dance lessons.

Year 8 student Hollie Gray said: “It has been really interesting and fun to complete my arts award. One skill I feel I have really developed is my confidence.”

Lulu Hamblin said: "Creating my book has really helped my reflect on everything I have done and be really proud of myself. I am grateful for the opportunities given by the school.”

Completing the award facilitates young people to develop their creativity, communication skills and leadership all desirable skills for the vocational world.

Students become leaders and mentors and have the opportunity to represent in school and regional events.

Head of performing arts Debbie Morgan said: “I have been offering arts award since it started and think that it is such a valuable qualification for building confidence, developing transferable skills and showcasing creativity.

“I always hope that the books the young people create will be kept with pride and looked at again in the future. They have all worked so hard and we are very proud of them all.”

Students have the opportunity to complete their bronze, silver and gold at Clevedon School in addition to their curriculum studies.
