A NORTH Somerset scheme of 66 exclusive homes has scooped the best small development of the year award at the South West Insider Residential Property Awards 2023.

The Woodlands project in Barrow Gurney development is being created by Bovis Homes in joint venture partnership with Wates Developments Group and will comprise 66 exclusive homes in a picturesque setting.

Surrounded by mature trees, it will also include a play park, public open space, an attenuation basin, bat houses and improved woodland.

The site features a collection of three, four and five bedroom detached properties, showcasing bi-fold doors leading out to the garden, bay windows and double garages.

Work started on site in 2021, the show home was unveiled in May 2022 and the first residents started moving in last August.

Managing director Emma Colin said: “We are exceptionally proud of Woodlands, it’s a beautiful location and the homes have been sensitively designed to complement their surroundings.

"Developments like Woodlands are rare and I cannot wait to see it fully complete – it’s going to be a very special place to live.

"We are delighted it has won best small development of the year, it fully deserves the recognition.”

Woodlands is supporting the local community by contributing £1.54 million towards education, library services, affordable housing, transport, plus sport and leisure facilities including contributions towards Barrow Gurney village hall, Long Ashton community centre, Long Ashton playing pitches and changing rooms.

Natalie Flint, residential investment director for Wates Developments, said: “We are delighted with the recognition this 66-home joint venture has received.

"Woodlands is a beautiful development and is a great example of how we use our expertise to ensure the existing natural beauty of sites is maintained and enhanced through development, including by protecting wildlife habitats.”
