DR Liam Fox, MP for North Somerset, has recently shown his support for FND Hope UK.

He joined FND Hope UK’s inaugural Parliamentary Awareness Day last week, which discussed the action needed to deliver better support for those living with FND.

FND is a neuropsychiatric condition estimated to currently impact between 50,000 and 100,000 adults and up to 20,000 young adults under the age of 16 in the UK.

The condition's symptoms, which is characterised by a problem with the functioning of the nervous system, has been compared to Parkinson's and MS.

After using a Freedom of Information request to survey FND provision of the Clinical Commissioning Groups and Health Boards, the charity found that 50% of health boards had no specific agreement to treat FND.

In response, Dr Liam Fox has signed a declaration to show his commitment towards ensuring that more healthcare facilities are able to deal with the disease.
