PORTISHEAD children are being given the chance to learn vital life saving skills during the half term break.

GTE Training Academy works towards bringing the community together and teaching valuable skills, which could potentially save someone's life.

The Mini Medic scheme, which will be hosted by the Serbert Close training centre in Portishead on February 16 from 10am-noon, will teach children as young as seven how to deliver CPR, use a public access defibrillator and apply pressure to an open wound.

GTE Training Academy director, Kevin Browning, said: “I want to make it easy for people to access the courses that can equip them with the information they need to save a life, should the need ever arise."

A basic first aid course for people over the age of 14 is running at the centre on February 16, 7-9pm.
