Two local rugby clubs have donated just under 100kg of food to a local charity following a game played against each other in December.
In the pre-Chrismas local rugby derby fixture between Nailsea & Backwell and Clevedon, which ended 38-31 in favour of the Seasiders, a lunchtime raffle was held, where representatives from both clubs dug deeply and raised a sizeable pot of money.
Ravens president Jeff Morris put these funds raised to good use, undertook a big shop, loaded up his car and donated nearly 100kg of food to the local foodbank.
Morris said: “We didn’t realise they actually weighed the food, which was a bit of surprise, but we still have some money left from all the donations so will be making another trip next week.”
All at Nailsea & Backwell RFC would like to thanks the participants in the raffle who raised so much money, particularly their guests from Clevedon RFC in a great example of local rugby supporting their local community.
