FESTIVE joy will begin in Portishead next week when their Christmas lights turn on at the popular annual event.
The illuminations will start in the evening on November 28 at The Precinct end of the high street.
Festive music and banter will then begin at around 6.15pm. Santa will also arrive around the time to collect any mail children may have for him ahead of the big countdown.
Some sections of High Street will be closed to traffic from 5pm to 8pm to allow for preparation of the event.
Following the pressing of the big button and the massive switch on, a short firework display will conclude the event at 6.45pm.
Volunteers will be out all day on Sunday as they deck Portishead High Street and West Hill Triangle with coloured bulbs.
To post a letters to Santa, make sure children place their address on the envolope so Santa can write back and only at designated Christmas post boxes. These are: Oceans Estate Agents, Goodman & Lilley, Solelutions and Freemans in the high street and Marks Barber Shop on the Triangle.
