PUMPKIN picking fun was top of the list for the children at The Nursery in Portishead when they recently visited Triggols Farm pumpkin patch, in Tickenham.

The youngsters donned their wellies and excitedly embraced the spirit of autumn as they surrounded themselves with pumpkins, wheelbarrows and coloured leaves in the Somerset countryside.

Gemma Bosley, head of preschool at The Nursery, said: “When we arrived the children were completely in awe of how many pumpkins they could see, they predicted there were at least 200. They were also excited at how many different shape, sizes and colours there were.”

Nursery owner, Jackie Hardie, said: “Activities at The Nursery are always aimed at creating awe and wonder for our children and as we have our own minibus, we are lucky enough to be able to take children on exciting off-site adventures introducing them to new experiences. Pumpkin picking is definitely an annual favourite; the children have so much fun.”

After spending hours at the pumpkin patch the children took some of the pumpkins back to nursery to show their friends.

Gemma added: “They can’t wait to explore what’s inside, who knows we might even do some cooking with what they find.”
